Have a safe and happy Independence Day weekend

Have a Safe and Happy Independence Day Weekend   Dear Friends, I just wanted to take a moment to wish you and your family a safe and happy Independence Day weekend.  The 4th of July is a great opportunity to celebrate our nation’s freedom and spend some time with our family and friends.   I hope to see you at the Buckeye Old Fashioned Independence Day Celebration on Monday, July 4th from 6pm to 9:30pm at Youngker High School (3000 S. Apache Road).  Our Community Services Department and the Buckeye Main Street Coalition are going to put on a great event complete with Fireworks!   We are blessed to live in a country that cherishes liberty, freedom and democracy. America has been a leader for these timeless values throughout the world and it has been my honor to serve the people of Buckeye.  As a lifelong resident, I know there is no better place to live!   While this is a weekend for celebration, we should also keep an eye toward safety.  Here are some helpful safety tips:   4th of July Safety Tips   STAY HYDRATED:  With temperatures expected to stay well above triple digits, it is very important to drink lots of water before any outdoor activities and to bring water bottles for any trips to stay replenished throughout the day.   SUN SAFETY:  Don’t forget to and apply sunscreen before spending time in the sun.  Take the time to reapply sunscreen throughout the day.  If you start to feel dizzy, remember to get out of the sun and cool off immediately.   POOL SAFETY:  While swimming in a pool with friends and family is another great way to spend the holiday, it is very important to have an adult supervising kids and grandkids swimming at all times. Make sure any doors and fences lock properly to keep younger children from getting into the pool without adult supervision.  Have safe and happy Independence Day weekend and I hope to see you at the Old Fashioned Celebration.  God bless America!   Sincerely,   Mayor Jackie Meck
